A different take on superhero shows, The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic book series by Gerard Way, frontman of the infamous rock band My Chemical Romance. The series follows the adventures of 7 out of 43 children born to women who never even knew they were pregnant until they went into labor!

As it turns out, they are superheroes with extraordinary powers who are mysteriously adopted by an eccentric millionaire who turns them into the team called The Umbrella Academy.

After their foster father’s death, the children start uncovering dubious truths that make them question themselves and their parental figure’s intentions. You’ll like this show if you like unconventional superhero stories and carefully crafted action.

Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders is set in the time of World War I and is a crime drama series about a British crime family, the Shelbys.

After Tommy Shelby returns from the war, he goes on to try and expand the family’s control of Birmingham, stealing a shipment of guns to give his gang an advantage in the world of crime.

The show is excellent at portraying life post the First World War and that too without almost any mishaps. For all who love crime and a well thought out plotline, this show is for you – not to mention the really good soundtrack!

Okay, so one small para is not enough to address this show. Black Mirror is one of those shows that completely messes with your mind in the best way possible – making you question reality and to be apprehensive of the future.

The Good Place

Now, this is an out-of-the-box show. The Good Place is centered around Eleanor Shellstrop and her journey after discovering herself in the Good Place, a tranquil afterlife neighborhood made by a cosmic architect named Michael.

In reality, Eleanor was a selfish person who only looked out for herself and now, to avoid being exposed and sent to the Bad Place, she must learn how to behave like a nice person.

Pretty interesting concept, right? Comedy and fantasy meet together with ethical teachings and philosophy to mold this masterpiece and has gained a significant amount of popularity since its arrival.
